About:
International Journal of Chinese Interdisciplinary Studies (IJCIS) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Department of Mandarin Education, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Indonesia, since 2023. The journal implements a rigorous double-blind peer review process to uphold high scholarly standards and ensure the quality and integrity of published works. IJCIS publishes original research articles, conceptual papers, and case studies that explore the dynamic intersections of Chinese language, literature, culture, and society through interdisciplinary perspectives. The journal is committed to providing a platform for scholarly dialogue that connects multiple academic domains in advancing the understanding of China and the Chinese world in contemporary global contexts. The journal accepts manuscripts exclusively in English and accommodates qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches. Submissions are welcomed from scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students worldwide. Each manuscript is evaluated by reviewers with relevant disciplinary expertise to ensure academic rigor, originality, and meaningful contribution to the field. The primary objective of IJCIS is to advance interdisciplinary scholarship by disseminating innovative and high-quality studies that integrate diverse theoretical frameworks, methodologies, and perspectives. Particular emphasis is placed on theoretical significance, methodological rigor, and contributions to the development of global Chinese studies. The International Journal of Chinese Interdisciplinary Studies (IJCIS) adopts an integrative and interdisciplinary approach in examining issues related to China, the Chinese language, Chinese society, as well as Chinese communities beyond mainland China, including Indonesian Chinese communities, as its primary focus. The journal is not confined to a single academic discipline but encourages studies that connect multiple fields of inquiry through a shared orientation toward the Chinese world. IJCIS welcomes scholarly contributions that address linguistic, educational, cultural, social, artistic, political, economic, and technological dimensions, provided that the discussion is clearly situated within the context of China, Chinese-related phenomena, or Chinese communities in broader global and local settings. This includes research on Chinese language and linguistics, language teaching and learning, cultural and literary studies, intercultural communication, as well as comparative studies involving China and other regions or Chinese diaspora communities. The journal also accommodates research in broader applied and interdisciplinary areas such as education, psychology, communication, law, governance, creative industries, design, and social practices, as long as these studies demonstrate a clear connection to Chinese contexts or Chinese communities, including Indonesian Chinese society. For instance, research on educational psychology, counselling, or curriculum development is considered relevant when it relates to Chinese language education or educational settings involving Chinese learners. Similarly, studies on arts, media, lifestyle, culinary traditions, fashion, or physical activities are welcomed when they reflect cultural expressions and lived experiences associated with Chinese society or Indonesian Chinese communities. IJCIS emphasizes the coherence between disciplinary perspectives and the central theme of China and the Chinese world in both national and transnational contexts. Submissions are expected to demonstrate strong theoretical grounding, methodological rigor, and meaningful contributions to the advancement of interdisciplinary Chinese studies. Manuscripts that do not establish a clear relevance to China, the Chinese language, Chinese communities, or Indonesian Chinese contexts are not considered within the scope of the journal. Through this approach, IJCIS aims to promote innovative and high-quality scholarship that bridges disciplinary boundaries while maintaining a consistent and focused engagement with China, the Chinese world, and Chinese communities across different cultural and geographical settings.
